What it Means to Love Your Skin

Updated: Sep 6, 2025

a love letter to remember

As a skin professional I often see so many definitions or ways of loving your skin from getting facials to buying expensive skincare to having fancy skin tools. While all of these can symbolize how much we love our skin (as we are willing to invest in it), I don’t feel like this is what skin love is definitively.

But truly loving your skin, to me, is waking up every morning and loving the reflection you see in the mirror. It doesn’t mean your skin is the best it’s ever looked BUT it is making a conscience effort to speak gently and affectionately to and about our skin whether or not we are feeling confident in how it appears.

You’re probably wondering why I am bringing this up. Well…I had a client the other day who spoke so negatively about her skin that it made my heart heavy. She didn’t like the way her skin looked to the point where she was skeptical even when I complemented her. It was so disheartening to hear but at the same time made me realize we’ve all been there. At some point we’ve looked in the mirror and just not loved what we see.

So, I wanted to write this ever so gentle reminder that loving your skin starts and ends with how you talk about it’s appearance.  And honestly that goes for self-confidence in general. Loving yourself and what you see in the mirror starts with how you talk about yourself. You don’t have to think you’re the prettiest girl at the party (cue bubbles voice), but we gotta start saying ‘hey, I love what I see and I'm happy to be who I am regardless’.

So take pride in that mirror babes because you are gorgeously God-made and your skin looks its best all day, everyday EVEN if you don’t think so!

Love,
